Proper wiring of all the components has to be verified prior to powering up the propulsion system. Preparation – ensure that the system is normally wired but in un-powered mode which is:
- the main battery and IFC battery wires are not yet connected to their respective loads.
- Key switch, kill switch, IFC Power switch are OFF.
- Throttle is at it’s lowest position
- Trike brakes are engaged and prop is clear
Powering Up sequence is as follows:
- connect the battery cells balance wires to BMS in both battery boxes if they are not connected yet and also BMS SPI cable to IFC
- cover the airspeed pitot tube to allow ‘0’ speed calibration during the power up or you can do a manual 0 speed calibration right before a take off when IFC temperature is warmed up
- Turn on IFC Power switch
- Observe the Display pages for proper operation of the system using the respective pages in this manual
- Configure any parameters you might need on the Setup screen for your Avionics (see Avionics page and Setup Display page)
- Key switch ON and Kill switch OFF to allow power to the motor. Observe green LED light appear on the motor controller. If red LED is blinking, check error problem in the motor controller troubleshooting manual
- Slowly increase throttle and check all respective data readings on the Gauges screen: Remaining Power 100%, RPM, Battery volts, Amps, temperatures and verify that there are no Alarm notifications. Switch to the Battery page to verify that all the cells are nicely aligned vertically with no significant deviation. Switch back to the main Gauges screen for flying.
Go flying!
Powering Down sequence is as follows:
- Trike is on brakes
- Throttle all the way down
- Kill switch ON, Key switch OFF
- IFC Power switch OFF
- if flying is finished for the day, disconnect main battery wires, also cells balance wires from BMS and IFC battery wires from IFC
