Gauges Display screen is the main screen of the eBirdman pilot display. It is designed to show all the important data of the propulsion components as well as display of the basic flight avionics data. If necessity rises to see more details of the battery status – simple touch in the center of the screen will switch to the Battery page (and then similarly be able to return to this screen) .

The following data is displayed in the Gauges:

Note: units of the parameters shown currently US standard, in the future user will define mode of display: standard or metric, by pressing the “Units” button in the Setup screen which is already shown there but not implemented at this time.

RPM – round dial type gauge with a numerical field. From 0 to 3000 rpm

Remaining Power – or a State of Charge gauge in a form a slider bar showing the percentage of the remaining battery power. From 0 to 100% where ‘0’ means the lowest limit of the battery discharge state (equivalent to the minimum cell voltage and also minimum overall battery voltage). This parameters is calculated as a cumulative Coulomb number of the discharge over time in A x hr units

Current – momentary amperage drawn from the main battery in Amps. Round dial type gauge and also a numerical field from 0 to 300A

Airspeed – round dial and also a numerical field from 0 to 70mph

Flight Time – time since Power Up or Reset.

Altitude – a graphical vertical bar showing the relative altitude in ft in relation to the user entered Reference Altitude. For a usable visual reference this presentation is currently limited to 2,000 ft (subject to experimentation). Below the Altitude graphical bar is a numerical field to show a numerical value.

Vario – a graphical vertical bar showing the speed of climb or decent in ft/min. The current limits are +/-500 ft/min (subject to experimentation). Below the graphical bar is a field to show a numerical rate of climb and descend.

Following fields are all numerical text fields :

Bat A – main battery amperage in amps

Bat V – main battery voltage in V

IFC V – IFC battery pack voltage in V

Thrust – thrust force developed while running the load test in Lbs

Abs Alt – absolute altitude in ft

Cell V – the lowest voltage of any cell of the main battery in V . The lowest cell reading is maintained as long as the propulsion system continues running until next Power Down or Reset.

IFC T – temperature of IFC module inside the box in Celsius

Motor T – temperature of the motor in Celsius

Contr T – temperature of the motor controller in Celsius

Bat 1 T – temperature of battery 1

Bat 2 T – temperature of battery 2

The picture bellow shows the Gauges screen in normal state of operation when no alarms triggered in the system.

The lowest area of the Gauges Display which is shown empty on the first screen is Alarm area. The fields allocated here are shown on the second picture bellow. Each field is displayed only when a respective error triggers the alarm in the system with respective alarm names as described in Monitoring the Propulsion Components page.

Additional alarm notification field related to avionics is AVIO NO CON which, if triggered, mean that lost communication between IFC module and Avionics module. More on Avionics read in Avionics and Avionics Setup.

In addition to showing the alarms in these respective fields, the numerical fields showing parameter values also show the “out-of-limit” range by a red frame around the field as shown below.
